Designing frictionless social commerce experiences at scale.

Overview

At Instagram, I worked on the Design System for Instagram Shopping, helping turn existing design work into polished, reusable Figma components. The goal was to make it easier for product designers to build consistent, production-ready shopping experiences across the app.

The problem

As Instagram expanded its shopping features, teams were designing similar patterns in different ways. A design system was needed to unify these efforts, reduce repetitive work, and improve overall visual consistency.

What I did

I took existing UI designs from various teams and translated them into clean, scalable Figma components and templates. This included product tiles, carousels, CTAs, and checkout flows.

Many of the designs already existed in some form. I standardized those patterns so they followed shared rules for spacing, layout, and responsiveness.

I created clear documentation in Figma so product designers knew how, and when, to use each component. That made the system easier to adopt and faster to build with.
